From my perspective (in NH), the main advantage of a heat pump is that, in a power outage, it needs less generator capacity than resistive heating. We're considering one for that reason. Our house has an oil furnace, but we heat our house exclusively with wood-which is both Renewable _and_ Carbon-Neutral.
